Barack Obama’s Aunt Living Illegally in U.S.
Zeituni Onyango, the aunt of Presidential candidate Barack Obama, has been living in the United States illegally since 2004 when she was denied asylum.
Sphere: Related ContentZeituni Onyango, 56, referred to as “Aunti Zeituni” in Obama’s memoir, was instructed to leave the United States by a U.S. immigration judge who denied her asylum request, a person familiar with the matter told the AP late Friday. This person spoke on condition of anonymity because no one was authorized to discuss Onyango’s case.

Keep in mind that asylum cases are very complicated; there may well be an appeal pending or other legitimate reasons the aunt is still in the U.S. In any case, it is an administrative, not criminal issue. The amount of money donated was negligible, and it’s not like she is living in high style.
