Judge Allows Voting On Vegas Strip For Nevada Caucus

Barack 5

The lawsuit that was brought by The State Teachers’ Union Of Nevada (who is backing Hillary Clinton), has made it to court and got denied, just in time for voting on Saturday. This ongoing battle was seen by some as a petty attempt for trying to get votes away from Barack Obama; others thought that it was unfair because the culinary workers would benefit most from the voting allowed in casinos, and their union backed Sen. Obama. Judge James Mahan, who oversaw the case, said that the Democratic Party were the ones that can go over fix the problem with the voting situation if there is one. The Obama Staff released this statement after the verdict was announced.

“We’re glad that the Nevada court upheld the Nevada Democratic Party’s caucus plan which encourages voter participation. While the Clinton camp clearly believed the voices of workers should be silenced in service of their perceived political interest, they enjoyed a 25-point lead two months ago and have much of the party establishment in their camp. So, despite their inherent advantages we are pleased this should be a close and competitive contest Saturday,” said Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton.

Though, some conclusion has been reached on this Lawsuit, it will not keep Clinton and Obama from talking about it in the future.

Slick Willie Gives It To A Reporter

Slick Willie

No, this isn’t Monica Lewinsky all over again. Former President Bill Clinton was in Oakland California campaigning for his wife, Hillary, who is currently a Democratic presidential candidate. Clinton was asked about the lawsuit filed by The Teachers’ Union in Nevada by reporter Mark Matthews (San Francisco ABC7). He pressured Slick Willie about the lawsuit (which will take power away from the Barack Obama backing Culinary Union), and Clinton told him that he didn’t have anything to do with it, and that he read about it in the newspaper just like everyone else. He went on to say that the Democratic Party, when it made up the rules of the caucus, didn’t realize that this would have happened, as far as the unfair voting. The reporter pressured Clinton again, and he commented that the way the voting was set up it wasn’t fair because people voting in the at-large districts at the casinos’ vote counted five times anywhere else that was voting in Nebraska. The reporter pressured Clinton again, and he told him that he should be ashamed of himself, and that if his (Mark Matthews’) stand was that it should be easier for some people to vote. Also, that the people’s (for whom their voting was made easier) vote should also count five times as much as everyone else that was voting on that Saturday. And if this were the case, he would get on his news station and tell everyone his position. Clinton pretty much made this guy look silly. Which is what you would expect a good politician to do.

NBC Nevada Democratic Debate Did Not Include Dennis Kucinich

Hillary Clinton

The NBC debate had only three candidates in it John Edwards, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton. NBC did not allow Dennis Kucinich to participate. Hillary Clinton took command of the debate and made herself look like someone that people could see as the President. Hillary argued her points on Iraq and got Obama and Edwards to seemingly agree that her plan was how to go about Iraq from here on out. Clinton basically out-smarted her competition, and got them to agree with her, or that they have the same view points. Clinton is going to be considered the winner of this debate. This will possibly give Clinton an advantage on Obama in the Democratic Nevada Caucus. John Edwards needed a better performance in this debate to have a shot to win in Nevada or anywhere else. It is a shame that Dennis Kucinich wasn’t allowed in the debate, he would have surely shaken things up a bit. That made two wins for Hillary today, as she also won the Democratic Michigan Primary, which will not garner her any delegates, but may give her some good publicity.

NBC Fearful Of Dennis Kucinich?

DK

NBC has decided to challenge the decision laid out by the Nevada judge who had ruled Monday that Congressman Dennis Kucinich (OH) must participate in the Nevada Democratic Presidential debate or they must cancel it. Apparently, NBC is scared of the little man from Ohio. Sure, Kucinich might come off as outlandish to some, he is a progressive liberal candidate, he has original ideas, and regardless of whether you agree with him or not, he should be allowed to state his case. Hopefully the decision will stand and Kucinich will step on some toes.

Judge Helps Dennis Kucinich Re-Enter NV Debate

Dennis Kucinich has at least one fan in Nevada. Luckily that fan is the judge who heard his case about Kucinich being excluded from the Democratic debate on Tuesday night in Nevada.  The judge has ruled that Kucinich must be included in the debate or else he will shut it down.

A Nevada judge said Monday that Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich must be included in Tuesday’s candidates’ debate in Nevada. Senior Clark County District Court Judge Charles Thompson said if Kucinich is excluded, he’ll issue an injunction stopping the televised debate.

The more voices the better.  Kucinich has about as good of chance of winning the primary as Liberace had with Marilyn Monroe.

Kucinich had originally been invited to participate in the debate.  MSNBC then rescinded their offer for the Ohio politician to be included.

Barack Obama’s Advisors Show Economic Stimulus Plan

Barack

Democratic Sen. Obama advisor’s Governor Tim Kaine (VA), economic adviser Austan Goolsbee and Bill Daley (Clinton Secretary of Commerce) debuted an economic stimulus plan Sunday (1/13). The plan involves dumping $75 billion in the current economy and and keeping $45 billion on hold in the federal reserve in case it is needed over the next three months (a total of $120 billion, or as most people call it pocket change). Sen. Obama is trying to get congress along with the president to pass this stimulus plan now, not waiting to try and save it until or if he gets elected.

The plan, which would give middle income families tax relief now, and to help offset inevitable decline around the economy. This plan does involve raising taxes, which is always a popular move among the American Public. Maybe he should wait until he gets elected to try this stimulus plan.

Lawsuit States That There Should Be No Voting On The Las Vegas Strip

Las Vegas

The State Teachers’ Union Of Nevada, amongst some other democratic activists, that are backing Sen. Hillary Clinton for President, filed a lawsuit Friday evening saying that people should not be allowed to vote in a total of nine hotels on Vegas Strip. According to the lawsuit, it would make the at-large district, which the hotels are in, have too much pull. In other words, the reason for this is that it gives the Democratic Caucus a bias by having all of the Culinary Union Workers, which back Sen. Barack Obama, so close by. It doesn’t explicitly say that but, it doesn’t take a genius to figure that that is definitely one of the main reasons . The way it is currently set up, it would help Obama’s chances of winning the caucus in Nevada which takes place on Jan.19. This would help keep some of the votes and momentum away from Obama that Clinton may need to win the Democratic Nevada Caucus.
